ACCOMMODATIONS
San
Pedro - The Sun Breeze
Hotel -
is located right in
the heart of San Pedro
Town and it makes a
great base while fly
fishing in San Pedro.
The hotel is located
right on the beach and
is close to a wide variety
of bars and restaurants
to meet all tastes.
The rooms at the Breeze
are perfect for fly
rodders in that there
is lots of space for
gear and rods. The rooms
are very large and bright,
with 2 double beds,
private bath with hot
and cold water, television
and small fridge. The
pool overlooks the warm
Caribbean Sea and the
pier where guests are
picked up and dropped
for fishing is right
at the hotel.

Water
Caye - Blue Marlin Lodge
- The
Blue Marlin is located
on the north end of
the island. The Blue
Marlin has A/C in all
the guest rooms and
has a wonderful deck
out over the water.
The lodge bar is well
stocked and has the
only pool table found
on the island. Each
room comes equipped
with A/C, 2 double beds,
and a private washroom
with hot and cold running
water. Guests will frequently
see bonefish tailing
from the porch of their
cabana, or maybe even
a ray that has come
into the shallows looking
for a crab or two. The
grounds of the resort
are beautiful and guests
are free to walk about
the island at their
leisure. It won't take
too long as the island
is only 12 acres in
size. But, there's plenty
to see and the island
is very safe.
THE
FISHING
For the first
half of the trip, guests
will spend 4 nights,
with three days of fishing,
based out of San Pedro,
in Northern Belize.
This location is very
good for bonefish and
tarpon and guests can
expect to get shots
at permit, jacks and
maybe the odd snook.
The San Pedro fishing
area is enormous and
guests will have a wide
variety of angling options
and opportunities. One
day you can be up chasing
bones on the Belize/Mexico
border and the next
you can be targeting
tarpon in the gin clear
waters just off the
mainland. The town of
San Pedro is a charming
beach community with
a laid back atmosphere
reminiscent of the Florida
Keys 30 years ago. There
are lots of bars, restaurants
and shopping to entertain
at night, after a day
on the flats.
Mid
week, guests will fly
from San Pedro down
to the coastal town
of Dangriga. From there,
it's just a 30 minute
boat ride out to Water
Caye, where guests will
spend 4 nights with
3 days of fishing. This
small 12 acre island
is worlds away from
San Pedro in terms of
pace and size. Located
right on the reef and
in the heart of the
finest permit flats
on earth, Water Caye
is an excellent place
to target tailing permit
in shallow water. There
are excellent flats
to the north and south
of Water Caye that hold
healthy numbers of permit.
And because the area
is so close to the reef,
fresh fish come in to
feed on the flats on
a daily basis. There
are also several resident
schools of tarpon that
can be fished year round
and when the weather
cooperates, guests can
slip outside the reef
looking for the schools
of tuna that run as
close a quarter mile
from the island. This
is a highly diversified
area in terms of species
and we've had several
guests land 25+ different
kinds of fish from the
Water Caye Location.
However, unlike the
San Pedro area, it must
be noted that this part
of the country is not
a strong bonefish location.
This is permit country!
The
guides are different
in each of the two locations
and because our team
has been living and
operating in Belize
for the past 12 years,
we have a superior guide
network from which to
draw on. In both locations
we have excellent guides!
All of the logistics
of this trip and getting
guests from one location
to the other are handled
by us in a seamless
manner to ensure no
down time and a hassle
free experience
BOATS
AND EQUIPMENT
The skiffs
that guests will fish
from in both locations
are 23 to 25 foot pangas
powered by 50-70 four
stroke engines. These
are MUCH more comfortable
that what you might
be used to in the Keys
or Bahamas. The panga
will not bounce around
as much as the lighter
flats boats.

GETTING THERE
Guests will
be met as soon as they
clear customs in Belize
City by a member of
our staff. Lilly will
direct you over to our
local air carrier and
make sure that your
luggage is properly
tagged for the 17 minute
flight up to San Pedro.
All in country flights
are based on E tickets
and will be in the Tropic
Air computer system.
All guests need to do
is present themselves
at the Tropic Air counter
and give their names.
As soon as you arrive
at the airstrip in San
Pedro another member
of our staff will be
waiting for you. He
will escort you over
to the hotel and get
you checked in. There
will be an information
package on the town
of San Pedro (best bars,
where the pharmacy is
located, where to buy
Cuban cigars etc) waiting
for guests in their
room. Mid week, on the
travel day from San
Pedro to Water Caye,
which is day 5, guests
will check out of their
hotel by 10:30 am. The
flight to the Belize
City Municipal Airport
leaves from San Pedro
at 11 am and guests
need to check in to
Tropic Air for the flight
no later than 25 minutes
prior to departure.
It is a short 15 minute
flight to Belize City.
Please note that this
is not the same airport
that guests fly into
when they first arrive
in Belize. There is
a 45 minute lay over
at the Belize City Tropic
Air terminal (cold drinks
and light food are available)
before guests board
the 12:30 pm flight
down to Dangriga. The
flight to Dangriga takes
only 15 minutes and
guests will be met by
our driver when they
arrive at the airstrip.
The airstrip is a 5
minute drive from the
boat docks, where our
boat captain will be
waiting to take guests
out to the island.
