Tiamo Resort
Trip Summary:
Tiamo Resort is located on Andros Island, Bahamas. Good fishing is available year-round, with peak season October through July. This incredibly unique destination caters to couples, families, and hard-core anglers looking for more than just a typical bonefish lodge. At Tiamo, they have worked hard to remove the annoyances of everyday life - there are no TVs, no pollution, no disturbances, no deadlines, and certainly no stress. Totally remote, Tiamo is tucked away along the uninhabited southern shore of Andros Island's South Bight.
Fishing & General Information:
LENGTH OF STAY
Any length of stay is welcome at Tiamo from a weekend getaway to multi-week visits.
THE FISHING
While not the main focus of this destination, Tiamo works directly with the area’s top independent guides. Since the resort is located in the less populated south bight, the fishing grounds are expansive, less pressured, and full of eager bonefish! Numerous cuts, cays, inland flats, coastal flats and lagoons provide “endless” fishing grounds for the guides and you to explore during your time on Andros, an island that is justifiably known as the “Bonefishing Capitol of the World”. The guides will customize your day to your specifications and needs. Wade all day for tailing bones or spend your time poling the deeper flats from for larger bones. If you are new to saltwater fly fishing the guides are excellent instructors and can target large schools of smaller bones that pounce on flies. For the veteran angler the south bight is known for monster bonefish tipping the scales at over twelve pounds. Another bonus for this resort is the close proximity to the famed west side of Andros. Only a 25-minute run by boat enables you to hunt for tarpon, permit, and the classic west side milky-colored bones. Other species found on the flats are barracuda, mangrove snapper, and jacks. The resort’s beach offers shots at good-sized cruising bonefish throughout the year and can easily be waded on either side of the resort. This is ideal for those wishing to “sneak” some fishing in on a romantic or family getaway or during non-fishing days!
SEASON
Tiamo offers year-round fishing and guest accommodations. October through mid-July is peak season for fishing in Andros, when the weather and water temperatures are ideal.
January – February
A wide variety of fish species can be caught at the beginning of the calendar year. Best months for trophy bonefish! Lots of big barracuda on the flats as well.
March – April
Peak bonefish season for consistent weather of warm sunny days.
May – June
Bonefish, tarpon, and barracuda are plentiful. Winds are calmer and cooling afternoon rain showers are possible.
July – September
Morning fishing is best for bonefish, as the flats heat up quickly. Great months for stalking barracuda, sharks, and snapper. Calm winds, with the exception of the random Caribbean storm. Tarpon are also available.
October – December
All of the bights of Andros are great during these months. Good time of the year to find the elusive permit.

The first flight is at 7:30 AM and the second departs to Congo Town at 3:00 PM. A round trip ticket is approximately $100.00 Incoming parties are asked to arrive on the afternoon flight into Congo Town whenever possible.

ESSENTIAL GEAR
Bahamas Bonefishing gear should include 9' Fly Rods in both 8 and/or 9 weight depending on conditions. For calm, delicate presentations, a 7 weight Fly Rod can be used. Saltwater conditions and hard running Bonefish demand the best of your equipment. Quality anodized reels with smooth drag systems, larger arbors, and capacity for at least 150 yards of 20 pound test backing. Floating Saltwater Fly line with fluorocarbon leaders ranging from 9' to 12' in 10, 12, 15 and 20 lb. test. You should also have tippet ranging from 8 lb. to 15 lb. test. Smaller shrimp patterns in tan and pink are Bahamas favorites. Crab patters can also be effective for both Bonefish and Permit. This is a remote tropical destination with limited/no opportunity to purchase gear so you need to come prepared to make the most out of your fishing trip.

Non-Angling Activities:
Tiamo specializes in alternative activities aside from fishing. This is why you visit this destination. Included in your stay there are a number of free activities. You can take off down the Bight for an afternoon of kayaking. You can fish right off the Tiamo Beach or sail one of the easy-to-navigate vessels into the beautiful Bahamian sunset. Explore the crystal clear waters of South Andros and the South Bight with complimentary snorkeling gear or stay ashore and explore the diverse wildlife on a guided or unguided nature tour. The Nature Concierge Team is a knowledgeable and friendly part of the staff, and they offer complementary guided trips to some of the most beautiful, exotic, and breathtaking natural sights in the area. See the amazing Blue Holes, the mysterious Crack, or the endless miles of coral reef along the eastern coast of Andros Island. This is a great place to learn about the ecology and fragile natural systems of the Caribbean.
