Belize Mainland Tours
Trip Summary:
From a quick three-hour guided tour of Olde Belize City while waiting for an afternoon flight to a multi-day jungle and mainland excursion, we can easily create an itinerary that will work well for you. If you’re headed to Belize to fish Turneffe, Ambergris, Placencia, Punta Gorda or Dangriga, why not add a couple of days on to either end of the trip to explore the non-fishing aspects and offerings of this amazing country? Let us arrange a tour itinerary that includes such activities as Mayan ruins tours, jungle river tours, trips to the Belize Zoo, diving, snorkeling, cave tubing on the famous Cave’ Branch River, overnight packages at unique and luxurious jungle lodges, and much more. Even if you simply find yourself in Belize City for a day while awaiting a late afternoon flight from the International Airport we can arrange a half day tour of the city, a trip to the zoo, or a quick visit to nearby Mayan ruins.
Fishing & General
Information:
LENGTH OF STAY
The average package is a one week (six fishing days and seven nights) package, although trips and itineraries of any length can be accommodated.
THE FISHING
In this particular area of Belize, you will find a complex system of river mouths, creeks, lagoons, flats, small cayes, mangrove islands, and – further offshore – the Barrier Reef. Bonefish within this ecosystem average from two to four pounds, with larger fish found on a regular basis throughout the year. The tarpon fishing in this part of the Caribbean can be amazing, as the area is home to resident fish that range in size from five to over 200 pounds. The greatest number of larger tarpon are typically found in the months of March through July and September through November, although “giants” have been caught every month of the year. As far as the permit fishing goes, this part of the coast offers some excellent habitat and flats that are home to fish ranging in size from five to over 30 pounds. Permit in this area can be found throughout the year. For anglers interested in chasing snook, the rivers, creeks and mangrove lagoons fished from the lodge offer some of the best possibilities in the region.
Mayan ruin tours, jungle and river tours, cave tubing, trips to the zoo, tours of Olde Belize City, one day fishing trips, and numerous other activities and options.

Each panga is equipped with a poling platform, removable lean-bar (casting brace) on the bow, rod holders, and a modern outboard engine. ESSENTIAL GEAR
Belize fly fishing gear should include 9' Fly Rods in both 8, 9 and 10 weight depending on
conditions. For calm, delicate presentations to Bonefish, a 7 weight Fly Rod can be used. Saltwater conditions
and hard running Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon demand the best of your equipement. Quality anodized reels with smooth drag
systems, larger arbors, and capacity for at least 150 yards of 20 pound test backing. Floating
Saltwater Fly line with fluorocarbon leaders ranging from 9' to 12' in 10, 12, 15 and 20 lb. test.
You should also have tippet ranging from 8 lb. to 15 lb. test. Smaller shrimp patterns in tan and pink are Belize Bonefish favorites. Crab patters are very effective for Belize Permit. Typical Tarpon patterns are also a staple for Belize Tarpon. Clousers and snook patterns are also effective in the rivers, creeks and mangrove lagoons. This is a remote tropical destination with limited/no opportunity to purchase gear so you need to come prepared
to make the most out of your fishing trip.

Other Information / Testimonials:
The climate in Belize is subtropical, with continuous, prevailing breezes from the Caribbean Sea. The country has an average temperature of 79 degrees Fahrenheit, and the humidity is nicely tempered by the ocean breezes. During the summer months, the temperature rarely exceeds 96 degrees Fahrenheit. Winter lows are seldom below 65 degrees Fahrenheit, even at night. On the flats, the water temperature will vary between 75 degrees Fahrenheit and 84 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the year. Annual rainfall ranges from 50 inches in the north to 170 inches in the south. Although the rainy season is usually between June and August and the dry season is between February and May, global weather changes are making historical predictions somewhat invalid. At the end of October, the weather does become cooler, and from November to February, it is pleasant with showers of rain. Average humidity throughout the year is 85%.
